Salinas Grandes

Leaving on the 51 route heading to San Antonio de los Cobres passing by campo Quijano, Cerrillos, Chorrillos, Ingeniero Maury, Alfarcito, La Quebrada de las Cuevas, and Santa Rosa de Tastil, where we visit a museum and an archaeological site.

We reach San Antonio de los Cobres at noon, we have lunch there, then we keep on going to Salinas Grandes (salt plains) on the route 40 through the highlands of Salta and Jujuy where we can see local wild animals. Once we get Salinas Grandes we learn about several methods for extracting salt, then we visit a restaurant completely made out of salt. Then we drive down to Purmamarca through el Infiernillo (4170 mts above sea level),the Lipan slope and los Amarillos. Once we get to Purmamarca we visit the town, then we drive back straight to Salta city.
